The CTAs used to expand the details when clicking on the name, but now this new button appears so you have to specifically click on that tiny rectangle to achieve the same.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all in for change. But beautifying the UI at the cost of losing functionality makes no sense.

CSMs have provided feedback that this is not an improvement, but a regression to functionality.

“The strangest change nobody asked for” - anonymous CSM, 2024.

Was this mentioned in the release notes? Curious to understand Gainsight’s perspective on why this is a positive change for end users, given the area to open a CTA is now 95% smaller than the previous UI functionality.

We have CSM feedback that this has reduced functionality and the favorite star is often clicked by mistake. Changing a 3 inch clickable area to less than 1 inch seems like a reduction in easy and positive user experience.

+1

I didn’t see this in the release notes either, and it also is just such an odd decision. It’s strange to see these regressions in functionality with new releases. It’s not great that regressions require enablement for end users (updating documentation, updating enablement courses / videos on Cockpit) on what the change is, and trying to explain to CSMs that you used to be able to do this, but now you can’t and you need to look for a specific button to do it again.

I wont get into the specifics of how much effort Ops takes to remove a single click effort for our end users… this definitely goes against that effort for us in Ops.

I didn’t find it in the documentation either, it only mentions the “Redesigned Cockpit Admin for All Users - Coming Soon!” and directs to this other article, no mention or screenshot about this change

New IdeaDevelopment

This team is reverting back to previous behavior where:

  • Clicking anywhere on the CTA name cell (apart from star and checkbox) will open the third pane.
  • Clicking anywhere will not close the third pane, allowing users to interact with checkboxes while keeping the third pane open.
  • Click on the same cell and on the close icon closes the third pane.

This will be deployed the first week of September. Will follow-up here!

Love to see swift action based on community feedback!

This has been deployed for US data center customers. EU will be completed on Monday.

I just saw it! Thank you @sshroff

Sorry, one thing I forgot to mention before is that although the behaviour is back, the Open button is still there taking up space:

Is there any intention to remove the button completely since it no longer has a purpose @sshroff?
Thanks!!
