I see that the Reports created from Data Designers are of no use in Gainsight Home Page. First of all the Data Designers don’t have the ability to have lookups to other objects. Due to this the reports created from Data Designers aren’t obeying the filters which are being used in Gainsight Homepage. This limitation is significantly reducing the usage of Gainsight Home Page. I understand that there is a workaround available, which is creating an Object instead of a Data Designer. But, the lookup limitations of Data Designer is the root cause for not using the DDs as widely as the rules. Also, I don’t think this limitation is mentioned in Gainsight Homepage FAQs.

You are absolutely right that currently reports on Data Designer cannot be filtered on Company attributes. This is because of 2 factors coming in

  • Lack of ability to lookup to Company from Data Designer objects. This is a heavy technical lift and is an experiment we plan to run in 2nd half of next year. I know that this capability will help in other asks as well and can reduce the amount of designs our customers build. 
  • Filters on Gainsight Home working like filters on other applications like Cockpit, Timeline, etc. We designed these filters to be easy to jumpstart and to be worked with by anyone and hence they lack both complexity and power of Global Filters in dashboard. 

I believe that 1st path is a better path to address this challenge. Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, I agree with you. The first path is a permanent long term solution. I agree with you that this is a heavy lift. All the Gainsight admins would be happy if you can implement this change as soon as possible. For now I am happy to know that this is in your pipe line.

Is there any update on this? We are trying to leverage Gainsight Home and just ran into this issue. Why do global filters work differently on Home than on Dashboards? I would imagine these would work the same so that the experience is consistent...

Requesting an update on this please. We have some important reports built out of data designer and they have become too crowded for CSMs to use without the filters. 


 Please avail this opportunity to interact directly with the Gainsight Home PM (for registered users)

 


Adding a vote here for this important change. We leverage data designer extensively and need to get these reports into the Home screen to provide a better experience for our CSMs


I just submitted a ticket thinking that it had to be a bug... couldn’t find anything about this limitation in the documentation, and if it works with Dashboards, why not Home?
But welp, both things are called out here ☹️

Upvoting and echoing the previous feedback from others above. This seems like a huge blind spot for Home, especially when dashboards are perfectly capable of including reports off Data Designer objects.

For our use case, we were hoping to include a widget/report of upcoming renewals for CSMs. Because some of our customers have multiple renewal dates for different products, we’re using a Data Designer of Company + our Salesforce Opps object. This is on their 1:1 dashboard and works fine, but given their owning of renewals, surfacing it on Home is equally important.


Just found this post and we are running into the same issue. It is causing low adoption in our home page since they can’t filter the reports on their home page. Would love an update on if this is being looked into. I agree with one of the comments above that I would expect/this would be ideal to operate the same as dashboards as this is also how anyone using dashboards and home would expect this to behave. 


Also added my vote! This is a limitation that 100% should be alleviated. Although I understand this may be a heavy technical lift, I feel as though this would be a huge win for many.

How is this idea almost 3 years old? 
And the documentation still doesn't mention that we can add them to Home, but the filters do not work for dataspaces.
 

 


Just tried to add a DD report to Home and realized that this has not happened yet. With Home being the landing page for GS, seems it would make sense to be able to add ANY type of report to it.

Our use case:
We have a report showing whether or not a company has had any activities of specific types in the current quarter.  Instead of having to add a field on Company, build a rule to populate it, we built a DD report combining Timeline Activity data with Company data.

 


The idea will turn 3 YO in October. How come this is not a thing yet?

Dataspaces are the only way we have to report on lack of data/last date since/merging several objects and I can bet all organizations have a bunch of them. Please, we need this functionality

Let alone not being a thing… how has it not even been triaged yet?

@ElleShutty delivered a fantastic idea in her recent webinar the week of July 8th on CC+CS that I’ve already logged to my “DX Email & Ops Ideas” board for a future JO to build out once we migrate to CC:

Send an internal slack message if an idea from high-touch client hasn’t had a response by an employee in 14 days.

 

Even if an idea isn’t going to be incorporated, it’d be nice to get further responses and a status update on the thread so we know if something has been moved to the parking lot. @Cornelia@rakesh, any updates for whether this might be something we can hope to see on the roadmap in the coming months/year?


Please merge this idea’s upvotes in. Also, it is pretty crazy that this has not been addressed. I just ran into this issue with one of our VPs, and I can’t come up with any kind of coherent explanation as to why he can’t add one of our lagging sentiment reports (sourced from a DD) and apply his global filters.

Adding my vote here. I’ve just finished updating an elaborate data designer report to compar e NPS data by quarter only to find that I can now not use in Gainsight Home. I was planning to launch this CSM-requested report to the team this week and now will have to spend additional time loading the data to an object in order to utilize it - which is an incredible misuse of time. It’s particularly frustrating when I can see that the Data Desiger report recognizes my Company GSID field as an actual GS ID field. I echo ​@heather_hansen ‘s sentiment that since this is tied to the landing page, it would make sense to add any type of report to it.
