Give Admins the Ability to Control Which Person Records Pop up when Posting to Timeline

I’m realizing that a solution I previously put in place is not getting the job done 100% because Timeline’s external attendees shows every Person record associated to that Company, regardless of the active/inactive filter. 

 

We have a field in Salesforce (our source of truth for contact data) that indicates whether a contact is still active or not. I built a rule a while back that updates that field in the Person object as well, while also updating any associated Company Person records to inactive. However, end users still see these inactive records when posting to Timeline or when using Gainsight Assist, which begs the question: What is the point of this active boolean field if not to filter out inactive contacts when posting to Timeline? There doesn’t seem to be any other method to filter out these contacts aside from just deleting them entirely from Company Person, which isn’t a valid option in our case.
