I propose that users who post an idea automatically vote for their idea after it is published. This way, it is not necessary to vote manually (and if you forget no one needs to remind you).

I don’t see a case when a user posts an idea that they don’t support themselves. And if that really happens, then they can undo the vote easily.

I’d love to see this. Our ideas area has been open for a month and we have at least 15 ideas that don’t have any votes because their authors didn’t realize they separately had to vote on their own post.

I totally agree with this.
Why? Our Product Team actually tracks all the upvotes (and who the upvoter is) and it does play a role for which ideas get prioritized. And they cannot assume that 0 Upvotes = 1 Upvote because the tracking happens automatically and it also wouldn’t give any info about who upvoted it.

So this would actually be beneficial for us - either a feature where somebody’s own idea gets automatically upvoted, or, if that’s too complex to build, even an automatic prompt that reminds the user to upvote their own idea after submitting.

Otherwise we have to remind them each time! In our Ideation “How-Tos”, we do ask them to upvote their own ideas, but over half of our users still don’t do so.

Cheers!

That’s exactly our situation Daniele, thanks for posting the detail about why votes matter that I forgot :-)

Oh boy, I lived this problem on my own idea: https://community.insided.com/ideas/voting-on-an-idea-automatically-subscribes-user-to-idea-4306. Didn’t notice I hadn’t voted until one of my teammates opened up the idea while we were on Zoom! This was after I’d shared this concern with our CSM after voting on this idea  .

Updated idea statusOpenAdded to Backlog

@Cristina 👋 hello! Question for you: does the Added to Backlog status proceed or precede the Open status for inSided? Put differently, is Added to Backlog closer to being delivered, or farther away?

I’m only curious because my team is currently trying to figure out a way to add a status between Open and Delivered and I’m wondering if something like Added to Backlog might be a good option. I promise I tried searching the community for a post explaining inSided’s idea statuses because I thought I remembered seeing something like that at some point, but I couldn’t find anything.

Thank you! :)

Hi @adam.ballhaussen! Great question and good catch, as I noticed we didn’t have this status covered in our ideation guidelines, as it was introduced more recently.

In our case, Added to Backlog means that it has been planned for development so it’s closer to being delivered. Once we start working on a feature, the idea status will be changed to Under construction and then Delivered once our users are able to use it.

You are probably referring to the article I linked above which can be found on the Ideas overview page (the first featured topic under the Ideas pipeline widget) and in the News and Platform Updates community category.

Hope this helps, and let me know if your team would benefit from a more in-depth conversation around using our Ideation capabilities!

This is perfect. Thank you @Cristina! That’s exactly what I was looking for and I should’ve known I would’ve been able to find it directly via the Ideas overview page. It might help search performance to add a few tags to that post like “idea status”, “ideation status”, “status”, etc.

@Cristina  - this feature isn’t working for us - is there something we have to turn on to make this happen? People are putting ideas and it automatically doesn’t count their vote. see examples . Is this a bug we should open with support?

Hi @mibrahim75! Indeed, I think it’d be best to reach out to our support team to investigate closely the issues you’re encountering. 🙏
