I would like to see an impersonation feature this year. Using impersonation, admins would be able to double check to see if a customer was able to see certain private groups and check to make sure groups are set up correctly.

Several other use cases for this as well. Not just groups, but even boards and roles, other permissions. As well as troubleshooting errors at times. Also to check subscriptions and settings.

We’ve also raised the “masking” (or impersonation) feature request before and we still would like to have it in order to view the community with our users’ eyes. So it should be possible for an admin to view the community as a registered user, superuser, anonymous user (or even the ability to choose a user name).

We would see a lot of value in this feature as well.

How do people work around this currently? Do they create roles for themselves with alias emails assigning to different roles and login/logout to check?

I have an account set up with my personal email that I sub roles in and out on to test functionality/view. It’s not ideal, but gets the job done in the meantime.

Adding my support here! Impersonation would be incredibly helpful for validating roles & access permissions without creating multiple users for testing purposes.

+1 the testing and troubleshooting use cases - I also would find it easier to impersonate one of my alias users instead of having to log in.. it’s a pain every time. i’ve used this function widely with other softwares and has been sorely missing here.
