We have 6 multi-select picklist fields we are currently using to track feature limitations that are blocking our customers from moving to the next generation of our product. These fields represent 6 main product lines and have anywhere from 3-16 feature options each. I have a few requests from our team to report on these items in the following formats...

1. A pie or bar chart showing the total number of accounts that have each feature selected

2. Report of the top 5 features across all 6 product lines

The issues I'm running into are 1. These are 6 different fields and 2. Gainsight doesn't allow us to group by or aggregate multi-select fields. The only reporting option I've been able to come up with is just adding all 6 fields in the 'show me' section of a report along with Account Name and enabling row grouping by account. The only way I see today to show a count by feature is to filter by an individual feature and create a widget for each one....which isn't really an option because there are too many to even put them all on one dashboard. Other thoughts/ideas to better report on these fields? I'm open to creating new fields/formats if needed, I just don't want to go to all that work for an experiment that may or may not give me what I need. Also, any info from Gainsight as to WHY we don't have more options to maniputale and report on multi-select fields?

This is not a step forward.

You now group by a concatenated grouping of options.

We are currently facing this issue as well. I have already had a member of leadership tell me the reporting for this particularly activity type is worthless because of the lack of visibility. Just adding our needs to the growing pile.

I’m a bit baffled about what was released here, which doesn’t solve the issue that everyone has been reporting and asking for a solution to.

Reporting on multi-select fields remains useless in it’s current state. Tomas has perfectly summed up what needs to happen to make this functionality useful. We don’t even bother trying to report on multi-select fields because the concatted results are so useless and don’t answer the questions we’re asking, and this is a massive data miss for us.

Would love to see this prioritised for a proper fix!

Hello,

Its on our short term roadmap and we are hoping to release it in Q4. We understand the concern, but unfortunately, I can’t provide any more further details than this.

Thanks

Hi,

Is there any updates on this?
Thank you!

I am following up on this thread seeking an update. We have a use case where a CSM is tracking Risks and some Risks may apply to multiple products and we want to track that, however, when seeking to report out on which products have the greatest number of risks, I am not able to easily see that and am just seeing all of the permutations of products selected by a CSM. It would be great if each item could be broken out and counted.

Hi team,

Any update to this? This is an highly upvoted need and the release from more than a year ago didn’t help one bit.

And from my point of view this isn’t even just an admin quality-of-life improvement, since the workarounds available actually impact the end-user experience.

@Prateek Parashar I’m checking in as I see Discovery and a hope to deliver in Q4. Are we talking Q4 2025?

Hi @revathimenon Can we get @Prateek Parashar or @rakesh to update us on the timeline for this one?

We can’t just keep avoiding multi-picklists because of this.

We are trying hard to see if we can pick this up and release in Q3 , but unfortunately, I am not in a position to provide a confirmed release timeline for this ask.  (We know what’s the missing part that we have to build based on the feedback shared on this post)

@Prateek Parashar Thanks for the update 🙏 I hope it gets picked up too, as it’s the only way to report on multi picklists, which other tools do nateively, and to use some of the report types you offer (for example, the gauge reports). I am not sure why it was first enabled as a concatenation of all options a record has selected.

@Prateek Parashar Was this picked up in Q3 or will it be available in Q4 this year? All of these use cases are valid for us as well. We rely on quite a few multi-pick lists and must be able to report on it. We are new GS customers and this is quite the obstacle for us since we had this capability in our previous CSP solution.

So understand this distress, especially when competitors have it… 🙄

DiscoveryDevelopment

Hi everyone,

We’ve picked up this feature for development in Q3, but it won’t be GA until Q4, as per our release timelines.

That said, if you need early access, we can enable it for your tenant behind a feature flag—starting late October or by mid-November.

Feel free to comment here or mail me (pparashar@gainsight.com) if you’d like it enabled early for your use case.

Thanks

Prateek

That’s great news! Can you enable it for our tenant when the early access is ready, please?

@Prateek Parashar  I’d definitely be interested in early enablement of this feature, please. Thanks very much!
