Timeline is so juicy....I love it!

One idea that could really help to drive organizational consistency is the ability to define a template that would auto fill parts of the draft activity text. For example, instead of giving the user free rein to enter whatever, if there were some key data elements or formatting style that was important for consistency, have the template drop that text in automatically.

For example, a possible template for a customer meeting could be:

[i]Summary:
[i]Current health & trend:
[i]Action items:
  • [i]Item 1
  • [i]Item 2
[i]Notes:
  • [i]Notes, etc
[i]Next meeting scheduled:
We also have a couple use cases for being able to create a template for certain activity types.  The ability to provide a little context in regards to what should be logged in the notes section would be incredibly helpful.
Hey Team!

Absolutely love the idea of having templates available in Timeline. Recently discussed this kind of functionality with a customer as a means of making an internal Transition Processes even simpler by using timeline templates.

Another interesting feature request had to do with using Tokens (like used in email templates or Rules Engine Comments boxes) to auto-fill certain key metrics in the Timeline Template.

So for the example below, it might look like this:
[i]
Summary: [Company: Company Name]
[i]Current health & trend: [current 2.0 health score]
[i]Action items:
  • [i]Item 1
  • [i]Item 2
[i]Notes:
  • [i]Notes, etc
[i]Next meeting scheduled:

This would allow for even more information to be brought in automatically that would be helpful for the user looking to add in meaningful notes into Timeline!

Would be happy to clarify further if needed!

Hello

I have many use cases for making use of activity type templates. Would save tons of time for CSMs having to navigate to internal knowledge management/pull resources to discover what should be included in the timeline activity. Just have it right there to drive consistency!
We also like the idea of having the ability to create custom templates for Timeline. We need the ability to create custom fields on a template or within Timeline that are aligned to the child account and searchable. Often times our CSMs are tracking notes on a child account and finding it very problematic to search for a particular activity using the current functionality when the entry is unique to the child account. Any thoughts/ideas?
Added this as its own idea:  https://community.gainsight.com/gainsight/topics/create-a-timeline-task-type-in-playbooks
The possibilities of this topic are very exciting to consider. This came up as an idea from my customer yesterday.

It's such a great idea and would be so helpful.I'm not shocked that it's already submitted.
Different templates for different activity types would be very helpful.

Is this idea anywhere on our roadmap?
+1 to this idea. Our CSMs and Implementation teams are both actively using timeline and this is one of their top requests!
I could see this being super valuable when our CSMs go through onboarding and have pretty structured agendas with our end users. Instead of copying and pasting into Timeline activities, it would be awesome to just add to a template that can be selected with each activity type.
is there an update on the timing of this?
I know I am late to this but, +1 from me and my team! They would love this addition!
This would be great for our CSMs as well. Many have monthly or even weekly calls with customers. Ideally, they could template a general layout for the text box but also a way to default the various contacts that are always on the call. It was certainly simplify the search functionality of having to add 4 internal users and 6 external users every week.

I have a few use Cases where this will be helpful!

Priority accounts

- What did you do this week?

- What is the plan for next week?

Exec Engagement:

- Here what you need to know

- This is what a positive outcome looks like.

+1 this would be super helpful

Having this functionality will be super helpful. Specially increasing the adoption level within the team (faster way to add notes)

My CSMs ask for this type of function all the time. It would help them understand what they should be recording in each timeline activity type.

Adding this link again as the original one was broken post-community migration. https://community.gainsight.com/conversations/create-a-timeline-task-type-in-playbooks-5bc73e1ae4b04588aaf86c63

Bumping this up again since my previous inquiry was I think accidentally overlooked. Is there a timeframe on this? I would love to be able to add text fields other than "Notes", this would be huge for our team.

Also wondering if this ever made it on the roadmap or is planned. Any updates?

Our Onboarding team will soon be adopting Timeline instead of using Salesforce Notes. They have different notes templates depending on the type of call, and we're hoping to eliminate as many steps in the process as possible to aid in adoption and efficiency. Being able to create a custom Activity or sub-activities with templates would be extremely helpful.

+1 again, this would be very helpful for our various teams

This would be awesome for us too.

#2 fits what a few of my customers are asking for as well!

Wanted to highlight that there is another post with this request here: https://community.gainsight.com/conversations/templates-in-timeline-5bd2190de4b0c5adfde0a670

This is a big request

Is there any update on this request? If it is being considered by product for the roadmap that would be great to know! Definitely a huge request from my team.

@dan_ahrens is there an update on when this will be released? I see a lot going on in the community about it and not really any updates on where on the roadmap it's located.
