We are looking for a way to mass update old activities with a new Activity type on the timeline soon.  I could use some help learning how to make this happen.  We don’t have the new Activity type determined yet but for example sake, they want to update 160 specific Activities that have been incorrectly logged as Email to QBR.  Is there a way to either upload a CSV to override them or how can we change those activities?

Our customer community is with Higher Logic, not the Gainsight Customer Community product (CC).

Is there a way to create a custom integration via Connectors 2.0 that will connect our Gainsight CS org?

Hi @sdrostgainsightcom,

Question on reports/dashboards:

If a report has no data for a given point in the chart (this report is grouped by month of enrollment), then the chart will not show anything in the dashboard until there’s another enrollment, and then it will show the “ghosted” data gap.

After talking with others in the GGA Slack community, it sounds like this is expected behavior.

Our use case: we have a requester asking to see data even when there is no change yet. (November 2024 through present). Is there a way that this could be done?

One (involved) suggestion was to keep a "calendar" MDA and use DD to join your core dataset to it, that way you HAVE records where there normally wouldn’t be anything due to no data. Unfortunately for us, this would require creating the calendar MDA, and then building a separate DD just for a single report, which isn’t ideal.

Hello @speacher !

Wanted to be sure I circled back here for you with a few bullet points for your Activity Type changeovers.

And clearly, look to discourage this unless it’s a batch request because there are, say, 20 or more to update.  For a one-off, the person who created the activity can edit it.

So -- for this request, I would do the following:

  1. Make sure that there aren’t required fields on the new Timeline Type that aren’t filled in or available on the old timeline type.
    1. Recommendation:  A good way to validate what the differences are is to create a Timeline entry yourself for, say, Email.  Save it.  Then change it to the new Timeline type and see what fields disappear and what fields might be required before you can save it as the updated Type.
  2. Create a report of the Timeline activities that need to be changed - include the Timeline GSID and the current (wrong) Type Name.
  3. Dump to Excel and add a column for the new Type Name and fill that in.
  4. Submit the file to Support when requesting the Type changes.  Let them know that you have confirmed that no data needs to be added to fulfill required field setting on the new type.

See screenshot below of a sample,  There may still be some back and forth once you make the request, but this will get things rolling efficiently.  Let me know if you have questions!

Scott
