📮 Email Templates Improvements

System emails set up received some needed TLC in the UI, simplifying the test emails, warning to ensure you save your changes, and simplifying adding variables to your emails.

UI revamp

We polished our UI with new input and infoboxes.

Insert variable drop-downs

Each email template has now different email variables for title and content sections.

Test emails

The “Send Test Email” button is a real timesaver while updating or fixing email templates. Now users don’t have to trigger any system email to see their changes on an actual email client. Instead, they can see their email on an existing email client by clicking this button. And also, It is possible to send test emails without saving, so users can test their changes without breaking any email template. For test emails, the variable name and not the variable value is displayed.
When a user clicks this button an email is sent to their registered email address in the community.

Warning for leaving before save

A warning message pops out to remind users to save their changes if there are any.

Warning for unsaved changes

As always, we'd love to hear your feedback or any questions you have about this release.

Nice, I like having the variables in there.

A nice tweak. Two pieces of feedback:

  • Would be helpful if all system emails could be selected on the page in Control /email/system-emails and sent at once vs. having to trigger each on individually.
  • I’d much prefer for the test emails to contain some sample content rather than just the placeholders

These are great improvements - having to manually trigger the emails while we were implementing inSided was… a lot of extra work. Also trying to have to go look around for the variables.

It’d also be nice to be able to update the headers, footers, logos, fonts, etc. for all system emails, rather than having to go into each individual email and update the html. We just went through a re-brand and had to do this, would be great to do it all in one or have the option to, especially since most of the system emails would have consistent branding and formatting to one another.

Love this suggestion @tiffany.oda -- a single master template that content gets slotted into would be hugely helpful for those moments like a re-branding. I know in our case we largely have only touched these at implementation from a look/feel and layout perspective, but have modified the content over time to improve outcomes.

I’d love this as well. I need to update ALLLLL of mine currently.
