The New Q&A Dashboard

We continue to make significant analytic improvements across the platform using valuable feedback and insights from you. Based on a filtering Idea submitted, we’ve re-vamped our Community/Q&A module analytics and are excited to launch the new Q&A Dashboard, formally known as the Success Dashboard.

The Q&A Dashboard now focuses solely on the Community/Q&A module. This ensures that the most relevant Q&A metrics are surfaced in the same dashboard providing a clear picture of community/Q&A engagement. With this dashboard, you can see the number of questions asked and answered and high-level metrics including average response time. Leverage filtering capabilities to hone in on specific datasets based on user role.

Let’s dive into the functionality by using the use case provided in the original Idea.

Filtering Community Engagement by User Roles

As a community manager, you may be interested in learning which users are most effective in answering questions in your community or what percentage of answers given came from your customers. Previously, these answers were a little hidden. With the new filtering capabilities on the Q&A Dashboard, you can now easily filter the data by user roles.

There are 4 metrics included on the dashboard:

  1. Number of Questions Asked

  2. Number of Questions Answered

  3. Percentage of Questions Answered

  4. Average Response Time

The following filters are available to narrow down the dataset:

  • Date

  • Published In

  • User Role Question (Primary role & Custom role)

  • User Role Answer (Primary role & Custom role)

For more information on how each of these metrics and filters works, please check out this Knowledge Base article.

Using our example from above, if you are trying to understand what percentage of answers given on your community came from users with particular custom role, you’ll want to use the User Role Answer filter and select the appropriate role. This allows you to remove employees and partners to show a true participation metric.

More options to exclude some roles using filters are coming soon.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on these improvements and how you are using these new filters!

Hi @amywolffgramm

You can use the new filter User role answer to select the roles assigned to your peers and you will get the number of the questions asked in the selected time period that were answered by them (anytime).

If you want a % you can, or divide this number by all questions answered ( to get a similar KPI to the % answered by peer from the previous Success Dashboard), or see available %Questions answered based on filter role KPI  which tells you what was the % of the answers given by your peers to the questions asked by users with selected roles (User role question).

If you want to get a similar KPI to the % answered by peers ( the KPI from the previous Success Dashboard) you need to select Registered Users and Super Users. However, if you have a custom role that you assign to your peers or non-employees, now you have the option to choose that role and see only answers given by them.

@Aleksandra I’m also struggling with the loss of the P2P% and not sure I understand how to calculate it using this new dashboard.

If my Questions answered is 5 and my %Questions Answered is 10%, how do I find the P2P%?

If I have User Role Question selected as the exact same as User Role Answer and the numbers in each column match, does that mean the P2P% would be 100%?

Hi @erin.brisson

We are currently working on adding to Q&A Dashboard few new KPIs related only to answers so I believe you will be able to see all numbers you need very soon.

Hi @erin.brisson

Yes … this week 🙂. Actually probably you already can see a teaser 🙂 as the front end is already there, so you can see what you can expect before Xmas 🙂.

And new filtering options that allow you to exclude some roles are already there :-)

Can you please let me know where I’d see this? I’m in the Q&A section within Analytics and don’t see any changes. Thanks!

@erin.brisson  I can see it is not visible in all communities yet :-)  so let me share a screenshot here.
