Question

SCORM content updation in courses

Hi Everyone,

Whenever I try and replace the existing SCORM file and click publish to new learners. It is updating with new updated content. However when we are replacing the entire source/zip file of SCORM how can old learners will still see the old SCORM instead of new content.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Thanks

Sandhya

Hi @sandhyan,

If you're replacing a SCORM file using the Replace button in the Media Library, the updated SCORM content will automatically appear in the course without affecting learner progress or requiring a new version to be published. This ensures that all learners see the most up-to-date content while maintaining their current course status.

If you want already enrolled learners to continue seeing the original SCORM content instead of the updated version you can select the "Publish to only new learners" option when publishing. This ensures that only new enrollees see the updated SCORM file while existing learners retain access to the original content.

For more details on how course publishing works when making content updates, I recommend checking out this Help Center article: Course Publishing

@cdonargo Hi, Thank you for response. Exactly! I was under this impression. However whenever I try replace the SCORM and click Publish to New Learners. The content(SCORM) is updating only to new learners. For the old/existing users who completed the course or that particular activity are seeing the same old file.

My point is when we are changing/replacing the entire source file, From where the completed users are getting old file?

Best Wishes

Sandhya

If your goal is for all learners (new and existing) to see the updated SCORM content, the best approach would be to publish the update to everyone and force retakes, instead of only new learners. However, this would reset progress for those who haven’t completed the course. When publishing the new changes to all, progress is restarted because their progress and completion data are tied to the version that existed at the time of enrollment. The old version and content does not exist anymore though, once changes are made and published.

@cdonargo Publish and update to everyone and force retakes would be an option if it can be for our internal employees. However, for customers its kind of boring/uneasy to go through again when we made a small SCORM change.

I am able to see the still OLD Content though it is replaced from the source library.

Looking forward in future if you get any Product development on this!
