How to backup control settings and content?

Hello,

Is there a way to backup all settings and content set in Control?

It would be great if there was a file(s) that could be exported from control to backup all settings and content in there. This would be to allow version control and always having a backup to reload should any inadvertent changes be made to any customised setting, script or content.

Possibly something that should be posted as an idea?

My current plan is to capture everything manually.

Looking forward to hearing any suggestions or solutions for this.

Thanks!

Hi @KevyM 👋,

No there isn’t currently a way to do this. I’d suggest posting this as an idea so others can vote on this.

Do you utilise your staging/sandbox environment? For now, best practice would be to ensure that the sandbox environment Control settings and configurations match your Production environment’s and so therefore you always have a ‘back up’ if needed.

Hi @olimarrio ,

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Using our sandbox is an option but things can be changed without notice as others on my team may try different things and forget to put the settings back.

I will suggest it as an idea and in the meantime I am adopting a manual approach by saving scripts and HTML into their respective document formats and using a  word document to store settings and other information.
