“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future.”

That's not just another inspiring quote, but truly defines mine and many others' journey in life. I feel fortunate to share my experience not only with my colleagues and friends, but also widely with this wonderful CS community.
Hello there! I'm Revant Amingad, currently working as a Senior Client Outcomes Manager at Gainsight. Some of you might already know me & I would love to get to know more wonderful people in this amazing community over a coffee chat sometime. ☕
I've been at Gainsight for a little over 3 years, and I manage Fast Growth & some Enterprise customers, helping them drive success and architect the best version of their Gainsight. I also lead a Mentorship league on my team where I get to mentor my talented teammates. Besides that, I love cross-functionally collaborating with other teammates, living the #Success-For-All mantra to the fullest & that's how I helped rally my team to turn all the metrics Green!!! 🎉
I have completed all the Admin and the Pulse+ CS certifications that Gainsight provides and I would like to share basic tips and best practices to ace the certification from my experience. I understand a lot of folks out there are waiting to get certified, so I hope these help you out!

How will Gainsight admin certification help me?
-
Are you a problem solver? Do you want to empower your CS organization with the right Gainsight platform that would help them deliver their best to your customers and your company? The Admin certifications will definitely get you there & equip you with all the required powers.
-
-
Can I prepare to certify without technical expertise? How do I get started?
-
Yes, absolutely! Technical experience would be a good catalyst in this process. However, the education course that has been curated on Gainsight University is tailored for a beginner to start from scratch and quickly upskill (materials are available free as well as on-demand).
-
Alongside all the free resources, there are virtual instructor-led courses that are offered by experienced individuals which provide great value & practical experience.
-
-
Are there any other resources that are available besides the Education Portal?
-
Yes, the GS Community is a very good platform to engage with other admins, Gainsight employees, and the CS community in general.
-
You can also reach out to your CSM/COM, who would definitely be able to guide you through this process if you work for a Gainsight customer.
-
-
Outside of Gainsight, would this be helpful in my professional life?
-
The CS Ops benchmarks speak for themselves. The potential of this knowledge is vast & the world needs people with such powers to deliver great experiences. This demand is pretty evident.
-
-
Last, but not least… Here's what I did to help myself complete all the admin certifications.
-
Main part I kept reminding myself - start small and have a good grip on the foundational aspects.
-
Understanding GS(Purpose of different features like 360, Dashboards, Surveys, JO etc.) & its MDA (Objects, schema & nomenclature)
-
Being Practical. I ensured to get familiarized with the product, its navigation & functionalities by logging into the instance. If you have access to a Gainsight instance, please try to use & deploy any test assets that don't affect your production environment. If you have a sandbox instance, you’re lucky. Go grab that opportunity!
-
For level 1 particularly, its best is to stick to the basics & follow the prerequisites that are mentioned on the education portal.
-
2.5 years ago, I got assistance & support from an OG GS admin - Phani Chowta who helped clarify my queries. But now, all of you have access to this amazing community (and this community group) that has many such folks. I also highly recommend reaching out to your CSM/COM if you need any assistance. Even, a simple google search can also address your question as the documentation team’s excellent work pops up on top of the search results.
