Can I know if there are any specific system objects you are referring to?

Also could you help me with the usecase? System objects are generally used internally. I wanted to know how custom fields would help?

For example, in Survey 1.0 (NPS Survey Response) object in SFDC we can create Custom fields and those fields can be used in reports or rules(any gainsight module). 
And now we have Survey 2.0 (NPSSurvey Response) object which is MDA System Object. Here we cannot create custom fields. In this case, if we want to replicate the 1.0 dependencies with 2.0 we cannot use the custom field which was existed in 1.0.
