When creating a new topic, there are often some “obvious” defaults depending on the page the user is currently looking at.  For example:

  • If currently looking at ideas, default to an Idea.
  • If currently looking at a category, default to a question/conversation in that category (perhaps which of the two could be a configuration option for the category, so community managers can say whether a category is most likely to receive conversations or questions)
  • If currently looking at the KB, default to a question (with a default category being configurable, perhaps)

Hi @Marion Frecaut , there’s one more FR in the original message which is not actually reflected in Prepopulate Subcategory based on where I am in the community:

When a user is on the ideation landing page, there is a "Submit an idea" button at the top. However, when I click on it, the defaulted post type is "Conversation":

 

This is why we end up converting a number of conversations into Wish List posts.
