Hello @nicksimard thanks a lot for this idea. That does make sense
. In general do you see a need to have customisation mode on category pages?
@Marion Frecaut I’m all for having more customization rather than less
I appreciate that on Product Updates I can essentially build out the page, as we do with the homepage. In my opinion, it’s easier to control sidebars that way than using custom code to limit what shows where, and doing it via the sidebars section in the backend.
Like maybe in an articles category you would choose to ONLY use the featured articles module and not show the standard list that is currently shown on those pages. I suppose you could do that now, but you’d still have that sidebar.
If we could build entirely new pages that have customization enabled and add dropdowns to the mega menu so we can link to those pages, that would solve a lot of problems, I think. We could then just create a page called Articles, design it how we want and then add it to the menu (as a dropdown, if necessary). Or videos, or webinars, or downloads, or whatever else makes sense for a community :)
In a perfect world: you can create custom pages that can be customized, and to show the topics you offer several common layouts (grid, list, cards, masonry, etc) where you can choose what to display there. You currently have the design for the featured topics, for curated content, for the community list, for product updates...just make all the design options selectable and specify what content to show. Maybe I want a 3x3 card-style grid of all the most recent topics across all content types, populated automatically. Possibilities would be endless.
This way we wouldn’t be stuck with something like /product-updates when really, these are about more than just the product (in our case). Am I explaining this clearly enough?
