If a topic creator has entered text for an additional poll option, but has neither hit enter or the ‘+’ when they submit the post, the last option is thrown away with no warning. Editor should get a warning about this at least (especially while they cannot edit their poll once it is created).

@triskaideka thanks for submitting this idea! Sorry that you are bothered by this UX issue.

I’d like to share a new version for poll creation UX, and I’m curious to hear your thoughts:

  1. User chooses to add a poll by clicking on the poll option.
  2. User sees the empty fields for poll question and 2 options.
  3.  User enter the question and 2 options, if he wants more option, he can click on the add an option button to add another option.
  4. All the fulfilled options will be saved.

How to fill in the question and options, and add additional options

Hi @xiaoyu-shen

I certainly think that would be less ambiguous for the user, as with your proposal the option exists if and only if a button has been pressed to add it - and this is reflected in the UI.

Great to hear that! I’ll bring this feedback to the team, and see what we can do.

Btw don't forget to vote for your own idea. :)

Yes! When I reported this as a bug about a year ago (because I, too, lost the last answer option), I got feedback that this is the intended behaviour, so I was pretty irritated. It’s good that this one is finally being tackled.
