My use case would apply to Administrator roles; I would not want this in my community to apply to all members (maybe superusers).

My request is to have the ability on an image in a post to tag community members, and specifically just for administrator roles, the ability to tag several community members in one image.

Use Case:  Long story but I’m doing a weekly post that summarizes the news of the community, highlighted activity and a new segment that is an explicit welcome to the new members in the community. I have been mentioning them all by name (between 50 and 200 users per time) but it looks “Spammy” so what my thought is if I made a welcome to who’s new; and tag them in the image - it comes out cleaner and not so spammy - and makes it a bit harder to have other users potentially get spammy with the others.

Example:  This week I had +82 members, and I’d like to tag them all in this graphic vs. have 82 mentions:

Handling:  I would like the users who are tagged to also get a notification, so that they know they were mentioned, even if via an image tag.

Hi @rickatron! Thank you for sharing this idea around tagging users in images! Can you think of another use case where you would benefit of tagging a big group of people on an image or in a post?
What do you think about being able to insert in a post some sort of widget displaying a list/segment of users e.g. users who registered in the last 7 days; or users who are part of a beta programme?

I’m curious to explore if there is a bigger-picture kind of problem that would unlock even more value. Any input/perspective is greatly appreciated 🙌

Hi @Cristina !

We can also use this feature to tag people from a group that we want to invite to an event. Like this event for example: https://community.veeam.com/events/journey-into-kubernetes-a-sit-down-with-andre-atkinson-veeam-vanguard-72

Thank you!

I would pilot the widget - that would be mechanism better than what we have in place currently. I would just want it configurable or a way to define the start and end dates/users etc. The last 7 days is a bit rigid.

As for additional use cases..

  • Users may elevate their engagement from in-person or online events, example if a community member is at an event with another community member; they could tag a photo of. At least in my use case, once or twice a year we do these “mega threads” - future ones will be hybrid in-person and online (Example: VeeamON 2021 x Community Hub discussion board | Veeam Community Resource Hub). And for users, maybe able to tag 2 persons max; administrators “unlimited” tagging.
  • I have been thinking about a “spotlight” content strategy for additional engagement. For example, I’d have a monthly post that highlights a few amazing contribution, engagement and other demonstrations of community awesomeness; I could use tagging as a way to make it richer.

Thanks for the update Christina - I was thinking that actually the new banner widget, if we could tag usernames in there, as an admin, would also do the trick: Banner Widget | inSpired (insided.com)

Hi Christina :) Still watching. I check back monthly. No hurries but not forgotten.
