Would like to have a way to limit what tags can be used in a particular category when creating a new topic. For example, in our community we have an Introductions category, we ask people to tag their introduction with introduction and their user role, but sometimes folks go wild. By limiting tags we could also improve the SEO and findability of this content.

Hi @Scott Baldwin! Thank you for sharing this idea with us. Public tags are used by all content types, and hence, are present in the majority of modules (except Events). A few questions that came to mind to explore further potential use cases:
- Would there be categories that allow all public tags to be used and some restricted to a selected list of public tags?
- How do you see limiting what public tags can be used in a category impacting/benefiting modules like Ideation and Product Updates?
- How do you see this option impact the settings that allows/denies users to create public tags?

- Yes
- I don’t use ideation or product updates (nor have any plans to) so can’t comment here
- Where restricted they wouldn’t be able to create new tags
