I think it would be necessary to have the possibility to opt-out of gamification notifications.
Atm users can decide whether they receive emails from new topics, private messages etc. but it is not possible to decide upon communication on gamification. So, the idea is to allow users to opt out of gamification related private messages and email notifications.

+2I found this idea helpful in some cases. If users wants to, least admins should be able to disable gamification notifications from them.
