Private & Hidden groups should not allow me to @mention people who haven't yet joined

When @mentioning a user in a topic in a privet or hidden group, I was expecting an error message like

This person has not yet joined the group and will not be notified

when I attempt to @mention user courtney_hauser in our community who haven't accepted my invite/ or the @mention dropdown to only offer me the courtneys who are a part of the group already (which is 0)?

For Public groups it should be fine as it serves as a teaser for user to Join the Group

Great question - our editor doesn’t check the user view permissions. Anyone can be @mentioned in a post and will receive a notification about it. When a user doesn’t have access to the content they will experience either a login wall (for content in hidden categories) or a request to join for private groups.

Hi @anirbandutta I will take care of converting your question as an idea. This makes a lot of sense to tackle. Thanks

… just adding to the above the variant for Categories @Marion Frecaut , @Yoeri

It’s a broader Access management messaging topic: Same for Private areas of the community, if within restricted-access categories an author @mentioning users who do not have access, they should be real-time notified.
