It would be handy if users could just reply to a notification they receive via email to respond to a topic thread vs. always having to visit the community to do so. 

Agreed on this idea, especially given how prolific gmail and google workspace have become: it’s getting to the point where people expect this capability. 

One thing I’ll add to this idea for the roll out: It’d require an improvement to the system email for notifications. Right now, the styling from the post doesn’t come through and only a limited character count. You’d probably at least want to pull in styling for a better reading experience within the email. (To be honest, most of the time I click to open the post just to see the alert content in a better UX)

As we’ll focus more on in-app notifications in the mean time, bringing users back to the community and having them see the (other) notifications about mentions, replies, etc. they’ve missed, we’re parking this feature request for now, as this does not drive users back to the community.
