We would like the ability to restrict viewing/interacting with a piece of content by role. We realize this can be done by category. The business feels there are times they wish to have a piece of content posted in a more general open category but only visible to certain roles. We would like this to apply to Discussions, Questions and Articles.

Hello @Chris Hackett thank for creating this idea. Can you give an example of a topic published in a category that you would like to make more visible to other users?
I have several concerns with this idea:

  • first the complexity of it. You might be lost what see what after some time
  • Also it could be strange for end users to see a topic and when clicking in the category name in the breadcrumb not being able to access the rest of the category

Would it be more simple to post the idea in a public category instead?

Hi @Marion Frecaut I think their intent is to be able to have content visible by selected roles in categories which are open. Users without the specified roles could still see the rest of the content in the category.
