Would be nice if all content in the platform was shareable externally to social networks. Imagining someone in a topic having a great chat and wanting to share it with others. Would be great to have this capability in any section (community, KB, groups, events) at available from any article, topic, etc.

Hi @Scott Baldwin - we offer social sharing (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) options on questions, conversations, articles and events (not ideas/product updates, yet).

Is there anything you’re missing from these options, or is it just those two content types?

@daniel.boon I’m not seeing it on anything but events. Can you point me to where that is?

My thinking here was something visible, with icons, and in the sidebar, but I need to see the option you mentioned to properly evaluate.

Here’s what i’m referring to @Scott Baldwin :)

I’m not seeing that option anywhere @daniel.boon is this something missing that I need to turn on in our instance?

Aha - it is most likely because your community visibility is currently set to private, in which case sharing on public social networks doesn’t make any sense as the content metadata can’t be accessed / members of the social network won’t be able to access the community.

Once your community visibility is set to public, I believe this option will be enabled on topics.

Right you are @daniel.boon  🤦‍♂️-- thanks very much for helping me troubleshoot this. 💯

So, my idea in one way is fixed as it exists. In another, I do think this could use more visibility and worth considering additional ways to expose social sharing icons in sidebars and widget could be helpful.

I’ll leave it with you to decide if you want to leave this idea open or close it.

At this point we are going to close this idea as it is not clear what should be done in it. Probably there are more good ways we can share our community content on social channels. If you have any more ideas, please let us know!
