The added filters to the User Overview are a vast improvement. However, I find myself wanting more functionality when it comes to filtering who was active within a date.

Current State:

  • Can filter by last login or last activity
  • Can filter by topics (total, all-time)

Desired Functionality:

Ability to sort by created a topic within idate - with all the filter options: before, after, and custom range]

Use Case: Segmenting (and then performing bulk actions for) users who had a specific type of activity within a time period.

I was wondering if I could identify all the users who created a topic this month and then would add a custom role for them. If I could, I could do some specific analysis on them, contact them all via email campaigns (future feature) or message (future feature), etc.

Specifally, we have badges and super user criteria based around monthly points and answers. I was thinking it could be a good engagement tactic to email or message them to mark answers for open questions as a thank you and help to those who helped them.

As I think of it, I might be able to get to this through exports and then using the API for bulk adding of roles. But the spirit of the idea above is that a community manager might want to drill down further than  who was active this month and apply the forthcoming improvements for bulk actions within the User Overview.

last activity is a pretty broad definition and the topic-based filters are all-time, not date-relative.

Especially with email campaigns and other bulk actions, I think there are a lot of potential use cases for this + drilling down by topic type within that relative-date:

  • Everyone with open questions
  • Everyone who answered
  • Everyone who submitted an idea
  • Everyone with X number of a specific topic type
