The multi select dropdown profile field works as expected when editing a profile. However, if you mark the field as required for registration, the list is static and users would have to guess that pressing Control will allow them to select multiple values. This isn’t as intuitive as how the field renders in the profile page editor.
If you ever had a profile with us, there's no need to create another one.
