🤔 1. How are teams using drop-off rate and analytics to improve course content?

The customer shared that her team launched their Academy in February. She’s been tracking unit and quiz completions to monitor engagement, but stakeholders are starting to ask deeper questions about drop-off points and content resonance.

We discussed:

  • Using Single Course Analysis to identify where learners disengage

  • If data is unclear due to long course structure, consider splitting long courses into smaller, stand-alone courses and grouping them in a Learning Path for improved visibility and cleaner analytics

  • Smaller course units are often more approachable for learners and give admins more precise completion data

🤔 2. What can be done on an Academy homepage landing page?

Olivia asked about improving the learner journey by replacing a public website landing page (with a redirect) with a more informative, direct Academy homepage.

Recommendations included:

  • Making your Academy public so it can be viewable before users log-in or sign up.

  • Using Liquid template customizations to add things like course previews and intro messaging

  • Redirecting paid ads directly to your Academy homepage to eliminate friction in the learner journey

Examples of public homepages were shared (Recast and Data Story Guide Academy), both showing how much content and branding can be added to the homepage before login.

🤔 3. Can we show different catalogs based on job title or persona?

Today, CE only supports one public-facing catalog, but here’s what you can do:

  • Create learner groups based on persona or job title

  • Assign courses and learning paths to specific groups

  • Use the "My Dashboard" tab to show each learner only what’s been assigned to them—this is the most dynamic learner-facing view

🤔 4. What’s the difference between legacy themes and newer CE templates?

The customer on the call’s instance was on a legacy theme, which limits how much can be customized (e.g., color, layout, navigation). To modernize the experience:

  • Contact support to request an upgrade to the latest CE theme

  • New themes offer a bit better branding controls (header colors, buttons, banners) and a cleaner learner navigation experience

🤔 5. What should I know before updating a theme version?

The customer asked about the implications of clicking “update” for her current theme version (they are on Version 2, and the current Version is 3). We advised not to update without support, as this can wipe existing Liquid customizations especially if you’re unsure how to re-upload the existing liquid templates.
