how to regain users awaiting email confirmation

Hi Folks,

I’m trying to figure out what to do about users who start registration but never confirm their email. I’m not sure exactly what is happening, but in my imagination it’s like this:

  1. user tries to register (presumably to post something).
  2. the confirmation message gets stuck in a spam folder.
  3. they are annoyed they can’t post the thing.
  4. time goes by, the urgency passes, they don’t try to engage again.

I’m considering an email campaign to try and grab them back, but I can’t figure out a way to automate it and don’t want to repeat it every week or two. (Seems like any less frequently wouldn’t do much good.)

Wondering if anyone has dealt with this another way?

Hey I am re-launching this topic as we seem to be experiencing the start of this. Is there a way to resend that email validation message to the users?

Otherwise, I am also considering using some automation flow that would automatically email those users reminding them to activate their email and check their junk.

This is mainly an issue for private communities that have a registration step, where the email validation role/state precede the waiting for moderator validation role/state. Without having the user validate their email, moderators don't have the feature to accept the registration request.

Hey @jvdc - There isn’t a way to manually re-send the activation email to all those members, but you’re definitely on the right track.

You can create a Segment in the User Overview by filtering by Primary Role to capture accounts that are still in the email verification step.

You can then send them all an email, simply inviting them to come to confirm their email address and/or re-visit the community, where they will see a message like this with a link to re-send the activation email:

In fact, I believe you can even directly include that link in your email (it’ll be your control URL followed by: “/member/mailactivation”).
