Hey Hannah, great questions! Glad you asked, so we can have this documented in the Community for everyone. Thank you to Brian Bastante from our Support team for his knowledge + testing on this topic:
What happens when updating a course? (Publish to everyone and force retakes):
- It will not affect the learning path progress, just the course that is in progress in the path. The in-progress course is not calculated in the path progress until it is completed. Once completed, the course is not affected by that publishing option. If the LP is complete, then all the courses are complete and again updating a course has no affect.
- If a learner is less than 100% done with a course that gets updated with a force publish option, they do not get notified until they log in and they will see an indicator on their course tile. If they hover over that it will tell them there is new content. When they go to continue the course, it will restart them on the new version of the course. If the learner is 100% done with course, there is no change for them.
What happens when deleting a course?:
- Deleting the course will affect the total progression percent, so if the Learning Path has 4 courses and you finished 1 course, it is 25% but if you then delete a course in the path so there is just 3 total, it will then be 33%. There is no affect if you delete a course and you are 100% done, as 3 out of 3 or 4 out of 4 both equal 100%. It will only change if you add a course to the path that they have not taken yet.
Adding new courses to a learning path:
- Adding a course will change the progression of the course if not completed yet by the learner. If they are 100% done with a 3 course path, if you add a new 4th course to the path that they have not taken yet, they will show as 75% done. Learners are not notified if you add a course to a learning path, but if this course is new to the learner (meaning they are not previously enrolled into the course) they will get a course enrollment email for it if that is turned on for the customer.
