According to the answer on this question, points awarded via the API are reflected on the leaderboard, but not on the analytics in control.

The idea: fix that. :)

Use case: See who has the most points during X time period. The user dashboard allows you to do to this using the date filters. However, if the manually-awarded points from the API are not reflected there, it’s no longer accurate or helpful.

Related to the use case for these ideas:

And this should be a pre-requisite to this (awesome) idea:

We’ve begun experimenting with engagement techniques related to those: awarding points via the API for those who mark answers (we get via Salesforce integration) and I’m also offering bonus point bounties to improve reply and answer rates.

The API allows community managers to extend and enhance gamification strategies, but this is a pretty big blocker to tracking and measuring engagement.

Note: I think this already works. It must have been a delay in posting, but I’m seeing points match our leaderboard after they were applied earlier today.

@Insided team, could you please verify when you triage this idea?

Sharing my update here as well. Unless I’m corrected, I’d love to see this idea folded in. Otherwise the user dashboard is not reliable for accurate point totals if you award any points manually.

I’m not positive this is working with the analytics and dashboards.

Manually awarded points are displaying on the front end leaderboard, but a user I awarded points to yesterday does not have those points reflected on the user dashboard.

I’ve also recently tested this again today by adding 10 points to someone with 0 points this week. The front end leaderboard updated within minutes. But I’m not seeing those points on the user dashboard.

All points, manually added or automatically added should be shown in the leaderboard as well as the dashboard. The dashboard shows the points earned in the selected date range where leaderboard shows all time points or points earned in this week (so far). Could it be that that is causing the confusion?

@Dick when I’ve tested this before points added via the API were not showing up within the selected date range on the User Dashboard.

I saw this as recently as yesterday when calculating end of month numbers for April for our super user program. Points awarded over the month via the API were not showing up in the user dashboard.

Here’s my latest test:

My points in the dashboard at 8:30 am ET on Friday, May 6: 15

Next, I awarded myself 100 points via a Zapier integration I have setup:

My points in the dashboard for Friday, May 6, as of this morning at 9:30 am ET: 48

It reflects the additional 33 points I earned on Friday, but the total is well below the 100 I awarded myself in this test. Clearly, the 100 zapier-API points are not attributed on the User Dashboard in Control.

(Note: previously, I have tested and confirmed that the leaderboard does accurately reflect points awarded via the API. While that’s working correctly, this idea requests that the Control Analytics are updated to reflect them as well)
