Embeddable widgets are a set of easy-to-install, plug-and-play components that you can embed in pages of your website or web based applications, using an embed code. The embeddable widgets can not be used natively in mobile apps.

 

Embeddable widgets enable you to extend the reach of your Customer Community content and enhance your webpages.

 

There are two types of embeddable widgets:

  1. The in-page widget enables you to display Customer Community content directly within any page.

  2. The conversational widget floats above the page after a trigger.

2. Configure the Setup

 

To get the Embeddable Widgets up and running you'll need to configure the basics. View the setup in Control → Integrations → Setup (Under Embeddable Widget)

 

Add trusted domains

The embeddable widgets will only execute on domains you’ve added to ‘Your Trusted Domains’ (i.e. allowed domains). If you don’t add any trusted domains, then the widgets won’t be allowed to load anywhere.

 

Configure widget visibility (optional)

If you disable a widget, it will no longer display on your website, even if the embed code is still on the page.

3. Configure the Look and Feel

 

Make the embeddable widgets feel at home on your website, by customizing their color scheme, text, trigger and more. You can customize and preview the look and feel of the widgets from Control.

4. Install the Embeddable Widget

 

Select the version that you want to install. It's possible to install both versions and have them running at the same time.

The conversational widget floats above the page, and can be activated by clicking a trigger. It’s quick and easy to install - you just need to enter basic information about your website in Control, then add your unique embed code to your webpages.

Install the in-page widget

The in-page widget enables you to display community content directly within any page on your website. Since you need to define where the in-page widget should be inserted on your webpages, it requires a little bit more effort to set up. It’s still really straightforward; you just need to add a tiny bit of HTML to your page.

5. Optimize Automatic Topic Suggestions

 

Our search engine automatically finds community content that's relevant to any given page on your website. To perform this search query, the widgets extract text from the page title (which typically contains an accurate/concise description of the page's content).

 

You can define words to exclude from search queries in order to boost the relevance of the search results in the widgets.

6. Promote Topics on Specific Pages

 

The embeddable widgets come out of the box with an automatic search, using the title of the page to find relevant content. This saves time when embedding the widgets on lots of pages across your site. On the other hand, for some webpages you know exactly which specific topics should be highlighted, because they’ll definitely provide helpful information to your visitors.

 

You can easily pin specific community content to a particular page of your website.
