Ability to track links behind images

Are there any plan to provide the ability to track links behind an image?

Text links are so unattractive. Using images enhances greatly the appeal to click but I am forced to use a url shortener and track separately those clicks.

      What if you append parameters to the URL? I would think they'd be reported as separate links.
