Dynamic drop/exclusions from a program

I see a lot of cases where people want to have people drop from programs based on specifc criteria being met after entering the program. Let's say when a CTA gets closed for a specific account/contact.

I know this is possible through calculated fields in conditional waits but I feel it could easier as I've seen people struggle or not even know it was a thing. This could also be combined to handle opt outs from SFDC and I think it may be beneficial.

Any way to add some other seperate query to the program within the participant setup to pull/drop participants if they meet specific critera?
