I would love to be able to set-up rules that run everytime a specific action happened or record/field was updated.

Currently we add filters to specify the rule should run where (e.g) created date = rule date. This means we can only run once a day as if it was to run every hour the criteria would be met resulting in multiple updates/actions taking place. 

Having a trigger based rule would ensure that they can run in near real-time (keeping our SF instance fully updated inline with GS would be a huge benefit of this).
