Priority: Extremely High
Overview: There are 2 types of URL, Dofollow and Nofollow.
- When Google is indexing a site, Dofollow links instruct them to follow the link-flow, whereas Nofollow tell them not to.
- Dofollow links give massive SEO benefits to the receiving site, whereas Nofollow give none.
- Generally speaking, Nofollow links should only be used for ads
Currently all links from the forum are being classed as Nofollow, which is a massive wasted opportunity for SEO for each client.
Objective: To replace all Nofollow links
Current Behavior:
- All links on the platform are defaulted to Nofollow
- All links on the platform are defaulted to Dofollow
Notes: Some people might ask: "What if a user posts a spammy link in my forum? Shouldn't that default to Nofollow?"
Answer: No.
- If all of your links are nofollow, you're primary domain is receving zero SEO benefits anyway.
- The Nofollow / Dofollow distinction is not a substitute for spam controls (You should solve spam by moderating your forum).
