Ability to populate custom fields on Emails logged through Gainsight Assist

We currently have a custom field on the Timeline activity form to capture CSM Sentiment which updates a Company scorecard measure.  We rely heavily on the Gainsight Assist Outlook Plug-in to add emails to Timeline and would like to be able to set Sentiment while doing so.

Agree with many of the others. Additional fields from Timeline into the Outlook Assist would save considerable time for the CSMs. We need to log not just the activity type, but we have 'sub’ fields as well, which are really necessary in understanding where our CSMs are spending our time so we require them. But that means CSMs can't rely exclusively on the Outlook plugin. They still have to go in and modify every single entry.

Agree! Enabling users to populate custom Timeline fields directly within Gainsight Assist while logging the email. This would allow us to capture complete and accurate data in one step, without having to open the Timeline activity afterward to edit and fill in the missing fields.

Why this is valuable:

  • Saves time and reduces double‑entry
  • Ensures richer, structured data for reporting and automation
  • Improves consistency across teams
  • Makes email logging a much more complete experience

This enhancement would be a huge quality‑of‑life improvement for CSMs and admins alike. Would love to see this considered for the roadmap!

@revathimenon Can we get some PM eyes on this one? Literally just commented on this related idea. CSMs need this yesterday. If we ask our CSMs go to Gainsight AFTER logging an email in Outlook/Gmail, we’re barking up the wrong tree. It won’t happen.

Thanks for the idea and the discussion here.
While this is an interesting suggestion, it doesn’t fit into our current product direction or plans, so we won’t be moving forward with it at this time.
That said, feedback like this helps shape our long-term thinking, and we appreciate you sharing it.

@Ritika Jindal It feels like many of the widely supported ideas around Gainsight Assist have been closed over the last couple weeks as won’t do/doesn’t align with product direction or plans.

While I get that Gainsight as pivoted towards the automated logging to Timeline, this is not something that every company allows (ours included) and we continue to rely on Assist. And even with the automated logging functionality, that does not solve these sorts of ideas that utilize custom fields per instance and where the CSM is still having to manually go in & edit these in the UX.

Has the product team all but moved on from supporting Gainsight Assist at this point?

We do support Assist if there are any Critical Bugs or any serious tech debts etc but priority wise we are not doing any active development on top of it this year.
