Admin defined views for Timeline

Gainsight Admins should be able to “push” views to Timeline, the same way they can Cockpit views today.  Here are a few use cases:

  • Authored by Current User and Company is not managed as Customer
    • Help CSMs find activities where they selected the wrong account and update with the correct account information
  • Creating a view for all accounts within a hierarchy
    • Helps CSMs with complex account hierarchies find all Timeline activities for the parent and child accounts

@darkknight I want to acknowledge the responses to this request. We are currently working towards making AI follow-up available for other meeting tools, plus bringing admin configurable permissions to edit timeline activities (by users other than authors) and we will consider the admin configurable filters and views for prioritization beyond that.

@ChiragJ I think we’ll need to be able to configure timeline views at admin level at the same time as AI follow-up becomes available for other tools (namely Teams - what’s the horizon?).

As @darkknight said, Timeline’s going to become a hot mess for AI to be helpful. It already is for our CSx, and asking them to replicate the same custom timeline view(s) from a tutorial isn’t making sense (time wise, not a huge time loss although that depends on CSx, but every update will need to be implemented by each CSx and that’s a tough one).

Thanks.

The most expensive part of building is the mistakes. That's true in construction. Not so much in CSOps. So ask questions, make mistakes and learn. All views expressed here are my own.

@ChiragJ FYI, we have additional input here: Ability to Configure Custom Timeline Views for End Users | Gainsight Community

@revathimenon Can we merge the other idea (in “new status”) with this one (which is in discovery status)?

Please work on this, a long time ask from all admins and such an improvement of GS-life for us and our end users.

End users are not trained on how to configure filters and do not necessarily understand the lookups or which fields should be selected for their desired outcome. I’d really love the ability to push admin defined views to our end users - would be a huge time saver!

This is super relevant today – and a huge product parity issue – as it also impacts People Lists. We have to be able to push these views to our users so they can spend their time on what matters.
