Hi

We're making an improvement to Gainsight Home based on feedback we've received, and we'd love your input before we finalize the approach.

What's the current behavior? In the Summary ribbon, when there are fewer than 6 groups, the groups repeat themselves on scroll to fill the available space. Several of you have flagged this as confusing - it's not immediately clear why the same groups appear more than once.

What are we changing? We're planning to remove the repeat/looping behavior. Instead, the ribbon will scroll only through the actual groups available and stop - even if that means there's some empty space at the end when there are fewer than 6 groups.

Why this tradeoff? We believe a small amount of empty space is a better experience than showing duplicate content that causes confusion. Clarity over visual completeness.

Planned timeline: FY27 Q2

We'd love to hear from you:

  • Does the current repeating behavior cause confusion for your team?
  • Do you have concerns about seeing empty space in the ribbon?
  • Any other feedback on how the Summary ribbon works for your CSMs?

Drop your thoughts below - all input helps us prioritize and shape the final experience!

@pgeorge While I think this is a nice (albeit very small) quality of life improvement, I’ll be honest in saying that I’ve worked for three different organizations who all used Home and this was never raised as a concern or a hamper to the daily workflow by a CSM.

Not to say that there isn’t merit in making this update, but I do hope product is also looking at the many other community ideas that have been shared by admins without response or prioritization & would truly improve the Home experience. Just a sampling below:

Definitely a good update. “Causes confusion” - maybe, but at the very least its more “mild annoyance” that the current functionality doesn’t work how you would expect similar and typical scroll functions to work. Ie: either with white space at the end, or just actually scrolling and moving widgets to the left and tracking the widget movement across the screen. I’ve had complaints about it at a few places in the past from CSMs and leaders only because it’s awkward to use - and a lot of times, they end up just not using it.

All that to say, definitely an improvement and for me as an Admin, I’ll be able to think about other valuable reports I may want to add to new groups.

one question - I know we can fill to 6 configurable groups which will help mitigate the white space if used,  but is there any consideration to increasing the number of groups?

@pgeorge I would echo what others have said.  The main confusion I hear about the Summary ribbon is related to the Actions and showing CTAs that are assigned to the account and not the actual owner of the CTA that Home is filtered to. (Idea post the @mobrien14 shared with 55 votes).

It also happens often that when we make changes to Home, users don’t do the update, so this Idea post would probably be second.
