Currently there are two sidebars available: General Sidebar -> default for homepage and all subforum pages Topic Sidebar -> for topic pages A subforum is usually set up to gather all content related to one product or one service. So while the content area of a subforum only contains topics around that product / service, the sidebar is limited to showing generic widgets that usually don’t have an added value globally in the community. A lot of important real estate is lost this way. In order to offer community users better contextual information, we propose a different approach to sidebars and therefore to the widgets that can be placed in the sidebars. Every subforum should get its own sidebar so that the subforum page and all topic pages of this subforum have the same sidebar. Additionally, all content widgets (like "Soived topics" or "Related topics") should have an option to only show content limited to the current subforum. This way a sidebar can be an ideal contextual addition to the content of a subforum. It can display solved topics from the subforum, it can display a custom HTML widget optimized for the product / service the subforum is about. It could also display a "featured_side" banner just for this subforum. Example: A community has three subforums: "iPhone", "Samsung", "Huawei". Currently the general sidebar for all three subforum pages shows exactly the same content. Also, the topic sidebar in all three subforums shows exactly the same content. So you can’t target users by displaying a banner (HTML widget) only on the "iPhone" subforum or only show solved topics regarding iPhones. You have to display this banner everywhere on the community, fully knowing it is most likely irrelevant for all users in "Samsung" and "Huawei", therefore losing this space and a huge opportunity. With our approach there would be a sidebar only for the subforum "iPhone". You could place the banner (and other widgets) there, so it is displayed on the subforum page and all topic pages of this subforum.
I recently enabled CSM as a field searchable up top, so a CSM or their manager could type in a CSM’s name and options would show their portfolio. However, I would like to include only Status = Active, as in exclude Churned customers. There is no way to do this right now, making this a little noisy in the end!
Hi there,It would be convenient to have an option to flag spam right in private messages. Here is the comment from the community members - https://community.miro.com/lounge-area-61/spam-in-miro-community-2372
I think it'll be useful to enable hyperlinks in signatures, at least for admins, moderators and superusers. This way we can regularly change them to an idea or topic we'd like users to reach - for instance, a feature feedback request. C'mon InSided, make it possible
The weekly AI digest are not working -> people do not see their own accounts, but summary for all others I would like to change as well some data below (eg sum number of meetings in the last 30 days instead of engaged owners; as I can do for scorecards)
I’d like the ability to click on the Engaged Owners section on the exec dashboard so I can see who is/is not engaged, and possibly get some more context as to why. At the very least, I would like this easy to inspect without having to go elsewhere. Even if it links to some other report, or is a pop up.
There is a “Data Sync” portion of Staircase that has a couple OOB looking widgets to give you an overview of some metrics, but aside from that, there doesn’t seem to be an appreciable way to investigate the status of any sync jobs. The bell icon gives you alerts of issues, but it seems those would be technical failures, not necessarily if integrations “look right” but are giving you silent failures because an upstream configuration issue isn’t giving you any output. For example, we have set up SFDC for ticket ingest, and I can’t seem to find a way to directly see what, if anything, that integration is doing. Poking around at reports/topics as an indirect method really doesn’t cut it.I would like to see ingest statuses for each connection, their status, run dates/times, etc. so you can easily see not only if something is connected, but if it’s doing anything.
Trying to set up writeback from Staircase to CS is a fairly frustrating process. You have to create the field in CS first, which makes sense, but you don’t actually know the data type of the field you need to make, until you set up the mapping. In Staircase (where you set the sync) all you see is this:After you select a field, just the mapping. You don’t see the types until after the mapping is done, which is super out of order. I created one thinking it was a string, turned out to be a number. Please surface data types to help make mapping easier.
Out product teams would like the ability to report on Idea votes filtering out duplicate domains. The business case is that companies often have multiple employees vote for an idea skewing the ideas weight.
HI all, One of our superusers noticed that we're struggling with keeping up with replying to end users (it's one of our KPIs), and asked if there was a way that he could help with providing initial support to new posters that has started a topic, but still haven't received the initial reply. Unfortunately we only have a public filter for topics that haven't received a best answer. As a team, we can search control for topics with 0 replies, however our most diligent forum dwellers don't have that luxury, and it seems that they would like to have it. Is this something that your community could benefit from as well? Best, Ditte
Good idea here from Richard M: Being able to assign members into a group and @mention (notify) the entire group at once of a discussion they might want to respond to and participate in is a powerful tool. You can assign newcomers to cohorts and invite the entire cohort to introduce themselves without having to tag each person in individually. You can create groups for experts in specific areas and @mention people in that group when a relevant discussion comes up. You can create an @mention group for your top members and use it to draw attention to unanswered questions. Etc…
Hi everyone,We launched our community 2 weeks ago and I have already faced an issue with users being granted points for posting irrelevant content and lacking a possibility to revoke those. We have published housekeeping rules, but it isn’t enough as there always will be inattentive/spam users. I believe it’s important to have possibility to revoke points. My use cases:User posted random content in Blogs (not offensive to ban, but irrelevant to our community/or just a hyperlink to some article) and I had to remove this content (I have 4 cases! users still have points) User posted content in another language and we had to remove this content because we have EN content only (3 cases and users still have points) User posted content and then removed it on his own (I have 2 users who posted and removed their content and they still have points) User posted inappropriate content (offensive OR spam) (1 case)We’ve built a strong gamification and that is important to have possibility to fix stuff like this, otherwise that could be demotivating for other community members. Looking forward to your feedback and comments!
Hii guys, What do you think about making a separate page, with a different layout, for blogs? I think this would be nice, just having a blog page where you can choose if users can also add blogs or only read ones from the company. Then i can also promote this page separate from the community. (i know this is also possible now by creating a new category. but i think a different layout would be better). For example this is a page from Vandebron.
Registered users can flag (report) any content that is spam, is breaking the rules or laws in their opinion. Moderators review the flagged content and decide to remove, edit or leave it as it is. But as moderators aren't online 24/7, but the community is open every day and every night, sometimes a moderator can only review flagged content after some hours (or in the event of holidays even days), even when an email alert via "Flagged Content Alerts" is activated. Until then the content is still online and public to everyone. We propose that inSided adds a new option: If a piece of content was flagged by multiple users (e.g. 3 times) before a moderator reviewed it, then this piece of content automatically gets depublished (quarantined) until it is reviewed. With this option, users (especially power users) will be of more help to quickly remove spam, rulebreaking or illegal content. And we as a platform don't need to fear that the absence of moderators leads to legal or other troubles.
This is idea is actually from our legal/ GDPR team:All of our users have a right to be forgotten. On the InSided platform it means that that an erased user is being anonymized, meaning that all the content they’ve produced to the community stays. If a user wants to practice their right to be forgotten they should also be able to delete their topics/replies, so that after profile erasure literally everything would be deleted.
Because there are no subforums possible in the group, the questions, conversations and blogs are mixed in 1 overview. This makes things clutter up. In addition, you don't want topics such as introducing yourself to a particular group to eventually disappear to the bottom. But that it is clear in a subforum so that new and existing members can look at it. Subforum also offers more structure in the group.
Hi all, notifications are a powerful way to (re)engage your community members. So I want to expand on @Moller Toma ‘s idea of Notification email to moderator/community manager as soon as there is a new community member I think the approach to welcome new members involve them has huge potential to keep a larger amount of users engaged over time. So we definitely want to know when new members join and be able to “onboard” them along our engagement funnel. However, we have a large community and individual welcomes are not feasible for us - so we want to propose a solution that can work with any size of community: Time-triggered notifications What are time-triggered notifications? These are notifications which are sent to members as per the timing the community admin defines Their content is set up by the community admin The trigger “time” can be AND combined with other parameters, e.g. “registration date” or “role achievement” or “article authored” etc. Examples:I want to welcome all my new community members and help them during their first steps in the community, So, as community admin, I set up a notification for “registration date plus 0 days”, in the notification I include my welcome, some tips etc. Also, in my community, I notice that the activity of users is sharply dropping off 3 days after they registered, so I create a notification “registration date plus 3 days” and create my message to say “hey, we haven’t seen you around, I hope you found what you have been looking for - now it would be great if you can let others know what was the solution to your issue or maybe share your knowlege [link]!” I also want to re-engage users, so I create a “community-birthday” notification, which is sent to all users for “registration plus 1 year” To boost people morale (same direction as @Arakou with Notification Right Answer ), I want to congratulate members who have contributed an article, so I set up a notification “article publication plus 10 days” to say “Congratulations on your article, check out [here] how many people have already read it!” etcWhat impact do we expect from time-triggered notifications? We know that the attention-period of users is very limited, typically 0-3 days after registration or 3 days around thread-creation etc. Therefore, we want to target this window of opportunity:For the community manager: to help their users (onboarding), showcase the value of the community and the interaction with the community. For the users: receiving information taylored to their community-journey, increases the relevancy, usability and connection with the community.Cheers, Florian
Provide a self-serve option for admins to manually approve user email addresses that have been blocked from account registration by inSided because their email address was flagged as suspicious. We use SSO for our community. Every so often, someone tries to register for a Coursera Community account but the inSided spam detection check prevents them from doing so (despite already having a Coursera account under the same email address). This means they get an error message, asking them to email us. If they email, the email goes to our technical support team, which then needs to be escalated to us. Then, we have to email support@insided.com to put in the request to manually approve an email address. Once we have word this is complete, we return to the user letting them know they can proceed with account registration. All in all, it generally takes 3–5 business days. Ideally, we could enable people to register for a community account as soon as we, the community admins, learn they’ve been blocked. For reference, the phrase for blocked registration when an email address is flagged as suspicious is: Module: Common Key: registration.spam_prevention.error
Is it possible to get an email notification sent to a user if their post has been moved/merged? This would avoid the moderator having to comment on the post and tag the user, which makes it look like the most recent activity on a lot of posts is by moderators.
Hello everybody! At www.A1community.net, we will introduce the Leaderboard within the next weeks. Generally, I think it’s a very cool idea: It should enable in particular new community members into being more engaged and contribute more content. Nevertheless, there are a few things that I’m missing:automated Badges: It’d be nice, if weekly winners (e.g. Top 3) received a bagde representing their victory in the leaderboard every week. There could be additional, special badges for winning 3 times in a row, or for winning the most first, second and third places in a year or in a month. E-Mail Templates and notifications: It’d be nice if a winner got a notification whenever he/she places first, second or third. Option to reset leaderboard every month: I’d like to have the option to reset the leaderboard not every week, but every month only. These are my thoughts on the new leaderboard. What do you think about it? Best,Wolfgang
As we are a mature community we do have a long history of exchanging private messages with our customers. Sometimes we might have a case of a possible stolen identity, fraud or other misuse. So, sometimes there is a need to check messages and details from older messages, and in a case of stolen identity, there might be two community users pretending to be the same person. Therefore it would be handy for the moderators to be able to search PM's by email and the contents of the PM. Also it would be really good to see the exact time stamp of the PM's. A case example from today: A customer has registered Nickname1 to our community using email@email.com and Nickname2 using other_email@email.com. Our moderators exchanged private messages with Nickname2 back in 2017. Now in 2019 Nickname1 contacts our moderator team. They see that an order has been placed via the community, but they do not see it in the PMs. We only had the first email registered in our CRM system, so we were, at first, unable to find Nickname2. After a while we were, luckily, able to find the user and all is well... But, in the future it would be handier to be able to just find the messages a little bit easier 😉
