GDPR - ability to manage private conversations in compliance with data protection regulationsParked

Hi all, our legal council in the data protection office (DPO) considers our community (hilfe.o2online.de) as not compliant with regards to Private Conversations (Private messages). As I think you might have the same issues, I put forward the need/idea for the ability to manage private conversations in accordance with GDPR. Please do chime in as I think this affects all of the (European) customers. Florian --- The reasoning of our legal council is as follows: 1. Article 5 of GDPR specifies the principles of data processing1. Personal data shall be: […] (c) adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed (‘data minimisation’); […] (e) kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed; […] (‘storage limitation’); 2. Private Conversations and GDPR:When a customer is asking “My invoice has the wrong” in the community, this triggers a private service-conversation between the customer and a company moderator. This is necessary as only moderators have the backend access to solve customer inquiries that concern their customer accounts, tariffs, etc.. In order to be able to resolve the query, our moderators then use the private conversations to: identify the customer, e.g. through exchange of Customer ID, address data, emails etc (the community & customer databases are not synched) exchange of sensitive files e.g. invoices, screenshots of user accounts etc. With the above private service-conversation it is established that personal data is exchanged via the private conversations, therefore they need to comply to data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR) with the solution of the customer inquiry, the purpose of the conversation is fulfilled. with the purpose fulfilled (case close), the necessity to keep the data ceases to exist. 3. Request/ideaThe request is to delete/anonymize/make unavailable the private conversations that contain personal data after a reasonable amount of time. 4. Considerations regarding current private conversations cannot block the exchange of personal data via the private conversations cannot distinguish between service-conversations and non-service conversations no option to "close" a case, i.e. a private conversation private conversations are a non-ending thread, there is no option to delete/anonymize/hide only a “closed case”, i.e. only all of the private conversations can be deleted. 5. Potential consequences without a timely solution, we would need to stop service via our private conversations This is one of the key ROIs of the community and would therefore severely impact the community's value to the customers and the company.

Site search control and Google issuesParked

Hello all, Our Community recently had to deal with a rather annoying problem with Google. To have it make some sense i'll first describe our situation: We have a closed-off part of the Community for archived topics. We created this as the Site search of InSided was less accurate than Google and most of our users enter the Community though Google search. As will probably be the case for many of the Communities here. Unfortunately Google started to really delay on removing content from its results, which resulted in visitors ending up on 403 pages. We remedied this by building an open archive so everyone would end op on a normal page. Off course this does not change the fact that most of our visitors come from Google and now end up on pages that do not give them the answer they want. One way of solving this is by linking a lot to topics that do contain a relevant answer and by having the site search work in finding relevant topics instead of archived ones. This is where my idea comes in. Right now we have very little control over the Site search or how relevant they are to Google. For this I think three things can help. One: Adding site search controls to the back-end of the community. Let us decide what should be the most relevant at the top of the search results, like answered topics, last responded date or Sticky topics. Then, let us share our findings and settings with each other on this forum. This way we can also help each other out in defining what works with each different way of work per community. Two: Adding an option to every sub-category (in the Forum structure settings) to ex- or include it in the site search. Three: Adding a Sitemap from InSided side to give content a search rating based on relevance. For example, everything in the 'said archive' gets the lowest rating. Making Google prioritize newer, more relevant topics. I don't know if many of you have had experiences with the above, but I'm very curious if you have had them, and your opinions on the above all together. Cheers,

Expose the untracked, unmapped, unidentified product pages/features in an organized "unmapped" locationNew Idea

Use Case:Our product is particularly deep, offering a LOT of feature customization and capability to savvy customers. That means that the Suggestion Mode mapping isn’t a “complete” look at the structure of our platform, and mapping of the product manually requires a measured and prioritized approach. Without a resource to see the unmapped activity in my product, I don’t know what pages/features aren’t yet uncovered, what kind of activity those product areas are capturing, nor how I should prioritize them.Rationale:Not all product pages or features are equal in priority. That said, the purpose of Gainsight PX is to capture data to determine feature priorities and recognize or uncover usage trends previously unknown. Unfortunately, the Product Mapper requires you to already know what pages and features are a priority (in order for them to be mapped, you have to know/think to map them). Discovering how your customers actually interact with your product includes identifying pages and features that you’re not necessarily paying attention to. Gainsight PX does not offer a means to see what you haven’t already been looking for. The Competition:Note that a major competitor to Gainsight PX, Pendo, offers an organized, clean, easily accessible resource that shows all the unmapped page visits and feature hits in your product. You can periodically review the “Other” or “Unmapped” areas of your product to identify frequently occurring entries and map them, back-filling the data to further enrich your Product Map.
